The Egyptian Zamalek failed to taste the taste of victory in the African Champions League groups after 4 rounds, after it stumbled again in its stadium.
Zamalek received the Moroccan Wydad team at Cairo International Stadium, on Friday evening, in the fourth round
of the group stage, to be defeated again with a goal without a response.
Portuguese coach Josevaldo Ferreira decided to keep Zamalek's way of
playing and its basic formation unchanged, as he relied on (4-2-3-1) in his first matches with the team in his second era.
On the other hand, Walid Rarajji, Wydad coach, faced the owners of the land in the same way (4-2-3-1).
Zamalek was the initiator of danger at the beginning of the match, as it reached the goal of Moroccan goalkeeper
Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti with some dangerous opportunities, but his players failed to convert them into goals.
Wydad resorted to the defensive bloc in front of its penalty area, in
an attempt to prevent the owners of the land from posing any danger to the Tajnaouti goal.
Zamalek club is a brainless player
Despite the white knight's control over the course of play in most of the periods, the team was flawed by
the inability to hit the defensive bloc of the guests with through passes from the depth.
A vacant space appeared in the midfield when building Zamalek's attacks, which made the task difficult for the back line to move the ball forward.
This came after Youssef Obama fell into the arms of the Moroccan defense, instead of trying to go down and receive
the ball in the middle of the field, to play his original role as "the playmaker", content with waiting for the ball in the last third.
Zamalek lacked the "mastermind" capable of providing the attackers with key passes all the time, which prompted
the left wing Ashraf bin Sharqi to fill this gap and retreat a little back instead of Obama, which created another gap in the left front because he was not in it.
Obvious flaws in the formation of Zamalek club
Zamalek players played poor finishing in the middle of Wydad stadium all the time, as well as a lack of focus on many occasions.
The white team players missed the technical intelligence on the field, as most decisions were expected
from Wydad defenders, which made it easier for them to deal with most attacks and prevent them from reaching the dangerous areas.
After Wydad advanced with a penalty kick, tension reigned in the hearts of the Zamalek players, despite a long
time remaining until the end of the match, but the delay in order to put them under tremendous pressure in front of their fans.
This tension appeared clearly in some of the touches, as well as the release of some players and trying to think of more
than one decision at the moment of implementation, which wasted many dangerous attacks on them.
At the same time, Zamalek lacked a high-class striker who could shake
the Moroccan team's net, as Omar Al-Saeed was a clear weakness in the last third.
Al-Saeed lacked the alphabet of the spearhead, as he was not able to move properly in many attacks, as well
as his wrong positioning inside the penalty area, avoiding surprising
Wydad defenders with unexpected moves, which helped the guests isolate him completely from the rest of his colleagues.
